What are Rocket and Pickle Wraps made of?.
Our wraps are made from 100% Cotton, Beeswax, Tree Resin and Organic Jojoba Oil. Our combination of ingredients creates a mouldable food wrap that can be used over and over again.
Who makes your Beeswax Wraps?
Paula Jayne makes all our Beeswax Wraps by hand in our workshop in Suffolk.
How do I use my wraps?
Use the warmth of your hands to mould the wrap over a bowl, dish or piece of food. As the wrap cools down, it will hold its seal. Our wraps allow your food to breath. Rocket and Pickle wraps will keep your fruit, vegetables, bread, block of cheese, leafy greens, herbs and anything else you want to use them for, nice and fresh. Our wraps are not recommended for use with raw meat or fish.
How do I look after my wraps?
Rinse your wraps in cool water using a small amount of mild dish soap, preferably eco friendly.
Our wraps are not suitable for use in the dishwasher or microwave, also avoid sources of heat, such as hot water and radiators. Air dry, fold and store in a drawer or in a basket on the counter. The beeswax and jojoba oil have antibacterial qualities that help to keep your food fresh and allow you to use Rocket and Pickle Wraps again and again.
How long will my beeswax wrap last?
Your wrap will last for up to a year with proper care and regular usage.
We recommend re-pasteurising your wraps every few months by ironing between two sheets of greaseproof paper, or by popping it the oven on a baking paper lined baking tray on no more than 100 degrees for a few minutes, peel away while still wet and waft until dry.
You'll know the wrap has reached the end of its life when it has worn thin and soft and has trouble sticking to itself. At this time, you can cut your wrap into strips and add to your compost pile, or use as a natural and effective fire starter.
Can I use my wraps in the freezer?
Of course! Rocket and Pickle Wraps keeps food fresh in the freezer for around 2-3 weeks. As our wraps are naturally breathable, it is recommended that you check on your food after this time to ensure its freshness.
Will my wrap have a ‘smell’?
When first opened, your wrap may smell of beeswax. The ‘smell’ will fade after the first few times you use and wash it, until you can no longer smell it.
Which size wrap is best for my needs?
